LivingRoom and a hosted profit tracker
A hosted profit tracker - Sellerboard is one example - and LivingRoom both show what each sale really earned after marketplace fees, refunds and the cost of the goods. They are built differently. This page sets out the differences as fairly as we can, from each product's public information.
What both do
- Profit per order and per product after marketplace fees, refunds and the cost of the goods; advertising cost too (in LivingRoom from Walmart Connect and Amazon Ads report files Beta).
- Cost of goods by batch, first in first out.
- Purchase orders, including suppliers who invoice in another currency.
- Reorder planning: a forecast of when to reorder and how much.
- Stock at prep centers and at several locations.
- Walmart, including stock at Walmart Fulfillment Services.
Where they differ
| A hosted profit tracker (Sellerboard, from its public pages) | LivingRoom | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | A hosted service: you use it in a web browser and in its iOS and Android apps. | A Windows app on your own PC. In an office, one PC can keep the data and the other PCs of the office connect to it over your office network. |
| Where your business data is kept | With the hosted service; see its own site for how it is stored. | On your PC, or on your office server, stored encrypted there. The app makes a backup every day while it runs, and an off-site copy to a folder or drive you choose is optional. No usage statistics are sent. |
| Marketplaces | Amazon in many countries, and Walmart (its Walmart page names the US, Canada and Mexico), connected to the marketplaces. | Walmart through the Walmart Marketplace API with your own API keys, or through Walmart's report files; a Walmart Canada or Mexico store can be its own company in its currency. Amazon, eBay, Etsy and Shopify through their report files Beta; signing in to those accounts instead is built and Coming soon. |
| Several businesses and a team | Agencies can manage several client accounts, with white-label and shareable dashboards. | Several companies in one installation, each with its own database, and a global view across them. Users with five roles and access per company, an Activity Log of who did what, and an office server for several PCs. |
| How you pay | See its own site for its plans and prices; it offers a free trial. | Three plans, each paid monthly, yearly or once (lifetime). A free 30-day trial key by e-mail. Pricing |
More of what LivingRoom covers
Beyond profit, LivingRoom keeps the stock and order side of the business. We have not compared these points with Sellerboard; its own site says what it offers.
- Every unit's landed cost: the vendor's price, its share of the order's shipping, duty and fees, less credits, plus the prep center's fees and their sales tax.
- Receiving with lot numbers, expiry dates and bins; lots on hold; earliest expiry first for dated products; a lot's history from receipt to sale.
- Transfers to WFS that keep each unit's cost, WFS reconciliation against Walmart's count, and paste-ready WFS claims.
- Kits and bundles with labour and packaging cost, returns, cycle counts and adjustments.
- Your own customers' orders, invoices and payments; vendor bills and payables; closing a month so its figures cannot change.
- QuickBooks Desktop export files, and a feed for Power BI.
Which may suit you better
A hosted profit tracker may suit you better if...
- you sell mainly on Amazon, in several countries, and want each marketplace connected directly today. LivingRoom reads Amazon from report files Beta; its Amazon connection is Coming soon and reads the Amazon.com (US) store only.
- you want your figures in a web browser or a phone app wherever you are. LivingRoom's phone companion works on your office network, and it is read only.
- you have no Windows PC: LivingRoom runs on Windows 11, 64-bit, and has no Mac or Linux version.
- you are an agency and want to share dashboards with your clients.
LivingRoom may suit you better if...
- you sell on Walmart, through WFS or shipping yourself, and want each unit's full landed cost, from the purchase order through the prep center to WFS.
- you track lots and expiry dates, build kits, or also sell to your own wholesale customers.
- you want the business data on your own PC or office server, with backups you control.
- several people in one office work at the same time, each with their own role.
- you would rather pay once: every plan is also sold as a lifetime license.
